I bought this as I didn't fancy the generic neoprene case that came with my netbook. It's about as thick as a woolly sock, and one or two inches longer than a 10.1" netbook. There's no designed-in way of "capping" the open end of the sock (possibly exposing ports to dust etc), which is its only minor failing, but the end can be inverted to protect your netbook, and overall it offers slightly more padding than the usual affairs.
I'm not looking to turn heads, but I've had a couple of complimentary comments on this unique little accessory, so no complaints there. It does tend to get grubby in the bottom of my bag, but then it's washable, which probably means it'll last longer than something more synthetic. Love it.
